  • Egyptian water buffalo as a dairy animal is adapted to the environmental conditions in Egypt and most of it is with small farmers, therefore, it was necessary to pay attention to improve its nutrition, increase its milk production, and improve its components by adding some feedstuffs of high nutritional value as Moringa oleifera which is a rapidly growing plant that is planted in tropical and subtropical area, in addition its leaves have high nutritive value, and it contains anti-oxidative and bioactive compounds, low anti-nutrient content and high amount of magnesium, which has positive effects on milk yield.

  • The stay-at-home conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic significantly alter the Malaysian lifestyle, and all Malaysians faced difficulties adopting the new lifestyle. A hypothetico-deductive technique has been conducted in this study, to find out what kind of changes the COVID-19 has brought about in the behavior of Malaysians and how they are coping with the changing lifestyles. According to G* Power 3.1 sample size determination in Malaysia, the entire sample of 112 was sufficient to provide the value for the medium effect size for the computation of the F-tests and the findings were reliable (The Cronbach's alpha values were all above 0.70.). To calculate the mean of the lifestyle during COVID-19, the mean scores range between 1.00 and 5.00 marks indicating much reduced to much ...

  • Objective of this work was to investigate the impact of isolated honeybee-specific-lactic acid bacteria (Hbs-LAB) that isolated from worker's bee intestinal tracts on bee health as well as bee colony activity parameters. Independent assays were conducted from February to July, 2021 in apiary yard of Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt. Colonies were allocated to 2 experimental groups each of 10 colonies, Control colonies were fed with sugar syrup, while the treated colonies were fed with sugar syrup supplemented with mixture of Hbs-LAB (Lactobacillus brevis-HBE2, Lactobacillus casei-HBE5, and Enterococcus Faecalis-HBE1, 3 gm bacterial belts (1:1:1) mixed with 1.5 L of sugar syrup.

  • Previous studies have shown significant differences and lack clarity on whether resistance to either isoniazid or rifampicin can predict multidrug resistance tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Some consider rifampicin resistance to be a surrogate for MDR-TB. We, therefore, conducted this study to determine resistance to either isoniazid or rifampicin can predict MDR-TB.

  • Caffeine intake has been positively or negatively associated with the risk of chronic disease. Genome-wide association studies identified single-nucleotide polymorphisms (rs2472297 and rs2470893) in Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) gene that are involved in habitual caffeine intake. In this study, we investigated the association of common CYP1A2 SNPs (rs762551, rs2472297 and rs2470893) with most consumed caffeinated beverages intake (coffee and tea) in the Tunisian population. Five hundred and twenty healthy blood donors were enrolled. Coffee and tea intake data were extracted from dietary questionnaires of the participants. Genotyping was performed using PCR–RFLP. p < 0.05 was considered as statistically significant.

  • Originating from the lumbar plexus, the typical course of the femoral nerve descends anterior to the iliacus, travels deep to the inguinal ligament, and then branches into anterior and posterior divisions responsible for innervating anterior thigh muscles (Fig. 1). Clinically, the spatial relationship of the iliopsoas complex and the femoral nerve has been described as an “entrapment-risk”, most often following medical or surgical interventions (Park et al. 2020). There have been differing symptoms reported from these previously reported variations. Documented symptoms related to variant femoral nerves include thigh weakness, thigh numbness, and difficulty standing

  • Previous research investigation determined the abundance levels of subgenomic RNAs from the COVID-19 patient samples (Alexandersen et al. 2020). Authors mapped the NGS reads data to subgenomic RNAs in order to identify the abundance of particular subgenomic RNA from the patient samples (Alexandersen et al. 2020). NGS reads mapped results revealed that Orf7a and N subgenomic were in high abundance, whereas Orf8, Orf6, and E subgenomic were relatively low (in an increasing order). These subgenomic RNAs are present several fold higher in comparison with whole genome fragments. Therefore, the present study seek to identify the possible conserved regions nearby the TRS or initiation codon which could mediate significant roles in the generation or expression of subgenomic RNAs.

  • Dental caries is the most prevalent oral infection affecting the individuals worldwide, and Streptococcus mutans is the major microorganism involved in its pathology. Thus, the aim was to evaluate the antibacterial effect of addition of nanozinc particles on toothpaste with different concentrations. The study was carried out as Deburdent toothpaste was used as a control group, and nanozinc particles were added with different concentrations to the same toothpaste, and antibacterial test for each group was evaluated.

  • Prediction of T cell epitopes and prioritization In this study, CTL epitopes were predicted using the IEDB MHC-I processing tool, whereas HTL epitopes were predicted using the IEDB MHC-II Binding Predictions tool and both types of T cell epitopes were predicted by the SMM approach against a set of human reference HLAs with adjusted IC50 value less than 50 nM. A total of 15 CTL epitopes and 3 HTL epitopes were shortlisted for eight selected antigenic proteins by applying several immunological filters as shown in Tables 1 and 2. All of the optimal epitopes, as well as their antigenicity, positioning and binding alleles, are documented in Tables 3 and 4. In addition, for the best possible epitopes, the corresponding alleles which have a moderate binding affinity (IC50 < 500 nM) were a...
