  • Compounds isolated from plants have enormous potential in the development of new drugs (Sasidharan et al. 2011). In general, plants can be found all over the world, and their parts (leaves, stems, roots, fruit, and flowers) are employed in a variety of uses, including medicine (Umaru et al. 2019). The phytochemical composition and secondary metabolites of plants such as coumarin and fatty alcohols contain active therapeutic components and are associated with their pharmacological potential (Mondal et al. 2019; Uttu et al. 2022). Umbelliferone (7-hydroxycoumarin) is sometimes utilized as a fluorophore. It has a large π–π conjugated system that allows it to be used as a fluorescent sensor for a variety of biological applications (Raunio et al. 2020), such as antidiarrheal, antiulce...

  • Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) has proven to improve the physical and psychosocial function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the gains achieved during pulmonary rehabilitation diminish over time without an effective maintenance strategy. With several factors affecting access to pulmonary rehabilitation, calls for innovative models were made, which saw the emergence of studies exploring telerehabilitation (TR) as an alternative to traditional pulmonary rehabilitation models. Although there are current reviews exploring the effectiveness of telerehabilitation as an alternative for conventional PR, no review has considered telerehabilitation effectiveness in the long term. Hence, this review aims at examining the effectiveness of telerehabilitation...

  • Compared to the untreated control, all treatments exhibited variable potential inhibitory activities against root-knot nematode M. javanica and enhanced peanut yield production. The most nematode suppressive treatment was the single treatment of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, followed by T. harzianum either singly or combined with the yeast. Moreover, data indicated that application of the combined treatment of yeast plus T. harzianum gave the best results in improving peanut production, plant growth parameters, and seed nutrient contents.

  • The established model was swayed with topological descriptors: MATS7s, SM1_DzZ, TDB3v, and RDF70v. More also, interactions between the compounds and the target “DNA gyrase” were evaluated via docking approach utilizing the PyRx and Discovery Studio simulated software. Meanwhile, compound 19 has the most perceptible binding affinity of − 16.5 kcal/mol. Consequently, compound 19 served as a reference structural template and insight to design twelve novel hypothetical agents with more competent activities. Meanwhile, compound 19h was observed with high activity among the designed compounds with more prominent binding affinities of − 21.6 kcal/mol.

  • The level of poly-dHbS-M of the control sample was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than those of the samples containing 40, 60, and 80 mg/100 mL ethylacetate extracts of A. occidentale at t < 60 s. The relative cumulative polymerization index (RCPI%) of dHbS-M in the presence of fractionated leaf extract of A. occidentale varied within a wide range of 3.8–59.4%. A. occidentale (petroleum ether and ethylacetate extracts), P. guajava (n-hexane, chloroform, and ethylacetate extracts), and T. catappa (ethylacetate extract) exhibited comparatively high potency to inhibit poly-dHbS-M.

  • The ethanol has higher extraction efficiency and the ultrasonic probe recovered higher oil % in the blank sample. Seventeen samples of S. bigelovii cultivated under different combined treatments of fertilization and irrigation recorded oil % less than the blank sample. The fatty acids profile cleared that the oil of cultivated samples (17 samples) had power for biodiesel production with high ignition properties and good stability due to the high cetane number and a high percentage of palmitic acid. The nutrition value of the blank sample is higher than that of the other 17 samples. The polyunsaturated fatty acids in the blank sample represent > 63% of the total fatty acids.

  • Results have showed a non-significant decrease in serum VEGF activity in the (CH.BG) (M) group when compared to other groups during 2, 3 weeks, followed by gradual decrease, then increase at 12 weeks of interval period. There was highly significant increase from pre-surgery to 12 weeks in serum BMP-2 levels in the (CH.BG) (M) group when compared to other groups.

  • In the current global scenario, the monkeypox virus has infected over 3000 individuals from endemic countries like Nigeria, along with non-endemic countries like the UK, Canada, the USA, etc. Based on the current information, it has been observed that monkeypox cases have primarily, though not exclusively, been found among men who have sex with men (MSM) in countries such as the UK. This article discusses the recent outbreak of monkeypox, its causes, and the various approaches to combat monkeypox infections.

  • Polymelia is an occasional and congenital malformation in bovine calves, characterized by the presence of single or multiple accessory limb(s) at various body regions, which are often called the supernumerary limb(s). One of these defects is known as pygomelia, where the additional limb is attached to the pelvis within the perineal region. This study describes such a case along with surgical management.
