This article summarizes sediment management strategies in Taiwan, providing lessons to help guide planning and design of new dams, and establish design standards for sustainable reservoir management. This article
is complementary to other articles in this and the previous issue of Hydrolink on reservoir sedimentation, such as those by Kondolf and Schmitt, Annandale et al., Kantoush and Sumi, Lyoudi et al. who present diverse experiences and policies in managing reservoir sedimentation worldwide.
